Finishing your exams can be an overwhelming yet extremely positive experience.
The huge sense of relief coupled with the desire to get out and do something other than revising often leads many students to head out to party and indulge. If you are eager to celebrate this coming month, but you’re cautious of how much all this celebration is going to cost, then don’t worry, there are plenty of cheap, affordable and often free activities for you to enjoy.
Firstly, in terms of going out, your best option price wise is to host a house party. Think about it, you don’t have to spend much money on drinks at an expensive bar or club because all of your beverages are there at your house! As a generation, we spend a staggering amount of money whilst dining and drinking outside of the home, the best way to get around this is to bring the party to your house.
There are plenty of cocktail recipes for you to try out online and cheap ingredients in places like Aldi and Lidl. Likewise, you can also make up some huge batches of punch for everyone which can also saves you loads on money which would have been spent on alcohol. Also, hosting a celebration at your home means that people are likely to bring their own alcohol meaning that everybody caters for themselves- no stress!
If you are looking to have a relaxation after the stress of exams, then heading back home to family can be a cheap and really affordable activity. The family home usually means good (free) food, a disconnection from university- and seeing the family of course! If you are concerned about the cost of getting home, then there are plenty of options you can try, from car sharing through to mega buses and multiple train route tickets.
This depends on location, but if you would like to have a day out without spending too much money, then you can always head outside with your flat mates and a picnic to celebrate. If you are lucky enough to live near a beach, then head down and relax! To save to the most on money, make sure that you pack snacks and meals with you and try to always buy your ice creams/alcohol at supermarkets, not near parks or beaches because they are massively inflated price wise!
Save money on a flat meal out and get cooking with everyone. If this is your last year together then an evening of cooking, with some music on, is a great way to spend quality time with your friends- you will also save heaps of money by cooking in a group- so that the price is divided- and buying your drinks from the super market! Get all fancy and enjoy.
If the cost of an end of year university ball is too much for you to afford after a full summer semester, you can always dress up and indulge at home! Invite your friends round and dress as fancy at you like before heading off to your favourite bar. You don’t need a ball ticket as a reason to enjoy yourself!
Finally, indulge in something that you have been missing during exams and that is also completely free: doing nothing. Whack on all the TV shows you were unable to watch, have yourself a lie in sit and relax with your flat. What better, cheaper way to celebrate exams than relaxing and doing nothing at all for once? Perfect.
